As winter rolls through ponyville, the protagonist witnesses a shameful display of unfriendliness towards a visiting Griffin, Gilda. She's cast out by her best friend, and left to fend for herself in the harsh snowstorm, no friends, nowhere to go, lost. The protagonist catches her as she's running out of town, and tries to comfort her in any way possible. What at first feels like pity, the protagonist starts to develop feelings of love for her, but he catches himself. It's not appropriate, what Gilda needs right then and there is a friend, nothing more, and that's what he plans to be.
I once saw you running from them what did they do to you
They turned you into a fool, but you are nobody's fool
They took something special from you, something you would not release
Shed your tears and let them freeze, shed your tears and let them freeze.
They don't know you like I know you all those ponies are the same
I swear I won't go away, I swear I won't go away
There's a girl that I know
Feathers as white as our winter's blanket of snow
But I know But I know
Her heart is longing for someone to call her own
But she's all alone, alone
Now the snow is getting heavy won't you please come back with me
Won't you please come back with me, won't you please come back with me.
